Please see the announcement for the National Capital Region, Environmental Systems Management – Environmental Protection Specialist. This position serves as the Environmental Protection Program Administrator and subject matter expert for 15 National Park Service (NPS) parks/sites throughout 3 states and the District of Columbia. This position is located in the Lands, Planning and Design Division, Washington, D.C. and provides technical guidance, comprehensive analytical assessments, and regulatory interpretation to the National Capital Region’s directorate and reports directly to National Capital Region’s Deputy Associate Regional Director.
The position serves as the Region’s subject matter expert on all matters pertaining to environmental protection programs that deal with air and water quality, hazardous waste and materials management, underground and above ground storage tanks containing regulated and non-regulated substances (petroleum products, chemicals, and wastes), oil and hazardous substance spill planning, non-hazardous waste management, minimization and recycling, and site remediation and restoration. The incumbent provides environmental protection program administration and oversight for projects to achieve and maintain environmental compliance on ongoing operations and/or remediate past environmental violations or compliance problems.
